Prospective Students

Incoming Freshmen

Students interested in enrolling at Xavier High School should contact the Admissions Office during their eighth-grade year. Students will be considered for enrollment once the Application for Admissions has been completed and returned, and a copy of the student’s grades, discipline record, and official transcripts are received. One of three decisions can be issued in response to an application:

  1. admissions without conditions
  2. admissions with conditions
  3. denial of application for admissions

All eighth grades students are required to take the freshmen placement test. The placement test helps the Xavier High School Guidance Department place students in the appropriate courses and measures advancement over their four years of high school.

Transfer Students

Students interested in transferring to Xavier High School from another high school should contact the Admissions Office. The possible transfer and his/her parent(s)/guardian are required to meet with the Admissions Office to begin the transfer process. Students will be considered for enrollment once the Application for Admissions has been completed and returned, and a copy of the student’s transcripts, discipline record, and attendance record are received. One of three decisions can be issued in response to a transfer application:

  1. admissions without conditions
  2. admissions with conditions
  3. denial of application for admissions

Foreign Students

It is the practice of Xavier High School to allow students from a bona fide exchange program to attend Xavier at the cost of non-parish tuition. The exchange program is responsible for all paperwork (including VISA) and arranging financial responsibilities. At the exchange program’s request, Xavier will send out an email to solicit host families if we have a contact from the exchange program to direct them to. We only accept foreign students through one of those programs. It is also imperative that the foreign student is able to communicate in English so the academic progress is insured. Contact our Admissions Office at 319-394-6635 ext. 390 with any questions.
