Iowa Assessment Make-up - Students who missed all or part of the IA Assessments this year will be scheduled into the guidance classroom on Friday, September 29 at the start of the day 7:50 a.m. until all tests are unfinished.

PSAT/NMSQT (National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test): The PSAT/NMSQT will be administered at Xavier on Wed., Oct. 11th from 7:45 am – 11:30 am.

This test is designed for JUNIORS to gain eligibility for the National Merit Scholarship Program. This is a test that showcases the skills and knowledge you are earning in class that are essential for college. Every junior is eligible to take this exam. Typically students with a 3.5 gpa or better are encouraged to take the test. Sophomores will get a chance to take the same test in the spring.

Parents need to sign up online through the Parent Portal and pay the $22.00 fee no later than 3:00 p.m. on Friday, October 6th. There will be a late registration fee after this date – $32.00. After paying for the test, students can pick up a PSAT/NMSQT prep booklet in the Guidance Office. If you have already registered, make sure your student stops by the Guidance Office to receive their booklet. Contact Mr. Schemmel if you have any questions.

High Tech Guys Days at Kirkwood will be held at Kirkwood Community College on Friday, Oct. 13th from 9:00am – 1:30pm. Students will get to explore high paying tech careers through hands on labs in: computer hardware repair, computer science, graphic design, network and information security & software development. All students were sent an email with information on this event and were asked to sign up here. Registrations are limited to the first 15 students.

GirlsCode++ will be held at Kirkwood Community College on Wed., Nov.18th from 9:00am – 3:00pm. Girls will learn HTML & CSS to build their own website while learning about careers in computers. Girls register on their own at https://newbo.co/girls-code-camp/ The cost is $50 but scholarships are available. Girls must bring a laptop (not just an iPad), and may check one out from Mrs. Miltner or Hannah Konzen if they don’t have their own. Xavier will not be providing transportation.
