Xhilaration is an auditioned extra-curricular varsity show choir for students in grades 10-12. Auditions are held
in the previous spring semester and students are selected based on tone quality, stage presence, dance ability, attitude,
and teamwork. The ensemble typically rehearses on Monday evenings. Requirements of this ensemble are travel during
competition season, extensive time commitment, community performances arranged by the director, and work at the annual
middle school competition.
Biography: Xavier High School's varsity show choir, Xhilaration, celebrates a decade of existence and fourth year under the direction of Andrew Last. Xhilaration's membership is composed of students who also participate in one of the seven choral offerings of the 250-voice vocal music department.
Xhilaration's 2008 competition schedule included performances at the Onalaska Show Choir Classic, Mt. Pleasant's Music in Motion, Benton's Touch of Class, The Kennedy Invitational, and the Westwood Jubilation. Xhilaration has earned caption awards in best male/female soloists, best choreography, best staging, best vocals, best combo, best show design, most creative number, spirit award, best stage crew, grand championships and three 3A championships.
