Xhilaration is an auditioned extra-curricular varsity show choir for students in grades 10-12. Auditions are held in the previous spring semester and students are selected based on tone quality, stage presence, dance ability, attitude, and teamwork. The ensemble typically rehearses on Monday evenings. Requirements of this ensemble are travel during competition season, extensive time commitment, community performances arranged by the director, and work at the annual middle school competition.

Biography: Xavier High School's varsity show choir, Xhilaration, celebrates over a decade of excellence and its fifth year under the direction of Andrew Last. Xhilaration members also participate in one of the seven choral offerings of the 240-voice vocal music department. With the support of an 18-piece combo, an 11-member crew, as well as friends and family, Xhilaration is proud to present this year's show, "The Weight of Expectation."

Xhilaration's 2009 competition schedule includes performances at the Onalaska Show Choir Classic, Linn-Mar Supernova, Mt. Pleasant Music in Motion, Benton Community Touch of Class, Raise the Roof!, and the Omaha North Viking Cup. Xhilaration has earned caption awards in best soloists, best choreography, best staging, best vocals, best combo, and best crew. In the past four years Xhilaration has earned three 3A championships and four grand championships. The program includes: "If You Believe", "10,432 Sheep", "Let It Be", "Our Father/Streets of Dublin", and "Never Dance."
