History

Xavier High School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa is the state’s sixth-largest Catholic high school and the only Catholic high school in the Cedar Rapids metropolitan area. It is affiliated with twelve area Catholic parishes and the Archdiocese of Dubuque. Xavier opened in 1998 following the merger of Regis and LaSalle High Schools.

The first principal of Xavier High School was Jeff Henderson who served from 1998 to 2004 when he became the Superintendent of Schools for the Archdiocese of Dubuque. Tom Keating was named Xavier’s principal in 2004 and still presently serves in that capacity.

Prior to Regis and LaSalle, the Cedar Rapids area was served by Catholic High Schools at Immaculate Conception, St. Wenceslaus, St. Patrick in CR and St. Patrick in Fairfax.
