Professional Updates
- Matt Brandes (R71) has been recognized as 2023 Lawyer of the Year for Family Law. Brandes is an attorney at Simmons Perrine Moyer Bergman.
- XHS Girls Basketball head coach, Tom Lilly (R73), notched his 600th career victory earlier this basketball season as the Saints defeated Bishop Heelan 62-54 in a rematch of the 2022 Class 4A state championship game.
- Bailey (Dorrington) Winter (X07) was recently honored as Waypoint Services Women of Achievement.
- Katie (Miller) Grandgeorge (X07) was also recently honored as Waypoint Services Women of
Achievement. - Xavier welcomed Anna Zittergruen (X15) as a new full-time math teacher starting with the second semester of this school year. Anna served as a student teacher during the first semester.

Weddings
- Bill Young (X13) and Colette Miller (X14) were united in Marriage at Immaculate Conception in Cedar Rapids on July 24, 2021. In May 2021, Colette earned her Master’s in Clinical Nutrition from the University of Iowa. Bill is pursuing his masters degree in Human Development and Education at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. The couple resides in the Boston/Cambridge, Massachusetts, area.
- Michael Ropp (X11) and Brigid Pikus were united in Marriage on October 28, 2022, in Kansas City, Missouri, at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. Michael and Brigid reside in Overland Park, Kansas.
- Robert Ostmeyer and Clare Larkin (X09) were united in Marriage on November 26, 2022, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Shawnee, Kansas. Clare is in her 10th year teaching high school math at St. James Academy. The couple resides in Lenexa, Kansas.

Additionally, these names are featured as part of the Xavier’s annual Memorial Mass where students, teachers, staff and guests remember those who have gone to their eternal rest and lift their loved ones in prayer.

Craig Kadlec

The Xavier community mourns the loss of a longtime faithful servant of our Catholic schools, Craig Kadlec, who entered his eternal rest following a courageous battle with cancer. For more than 40 years, Mr. Kadlec served as a teacher and coach at Regis and Xavier High Schools, impacting the lives of many Royals and Saints. He remained in his teaching role until his retirement from Xavier in 2021. Mr. Kadlec had a gentleness about him that put those he taught and worked with at ease. His students and those he coached over the years know that he truly cared about them.
Lynn Jump
May 27, 1952 — December 27, 2022
The Xavier High School Foundation is saddened to share the passing of longtime, loyal, and devoted former staff member, Lynn Jump. Lynn served as the Annual Fund Director for 18 years and enjoyed working with staff, students, volunteers, and pastors of all local parishes.
She and her husband, Mike, were members of St. Pius X Church in Cedar Rapids before relocating to New Mexico to spend time with their grandchildren in 2018.
