GO SAINTS! XHS Activities Week-in-Review: February 9, 2023

Girls Basketball

Congratulations to Coach Lilly and the girl's basketball team on their  62-46 win over Linn Mar on Friday and on their 44-33 victory over CR Prairie on Tuesday. 

Boys Basketball

Congratulations to Coach Freeman and the boy's basketball team on their 77-47 win over Linn Mar on Friday and on their 65-51 win over CR Prairie on Tuesday to boost their season record to 13-5.

Bowling

Congratulations to the following bowlers who bowled the High game and the high series on Friday.  For the boys, Jon Collins had the high game with a 234 and also the High Series with a 446. For the Girls, Miranda Nolte had the high game with a 182 and Aubrey Sires had the High series with a 336.

Choir

Congratulations to Mr. Schroetter and Xhilaration on placing 3rd place in the 4A division during the day and 4th place in the finals at Mt. Pleasants Music in Motion on Saturday

Jacob Sires was named Outstanding Soloist for the third consecutive time this show choir season and our crew received the Best Crew Award. 

Boys Swimming

Congratulations to the following swimmers who have qualified for State in the following events: Brian Foerster qualified in the 200 Yd Medley Relay, the 200 IM and the 100 Breaststroke, Jack Schimberg qualified in the 200 Free Relay, and Seth Williams qualified in the 100 Fly and the 100 Backstroke.  Alternates are Remy Barton, Jack Dake and Joe Semelroth. The State swim meet will be held on Saturday at the University of Iowa Rec Center.

Speech

Congratulations to Mr. Davidson and the members of the Speech team on a great contest day at Washington HS on Saturday. The following groups received division 1 ratings: for the One Act Play: The Rehearsal Noah Upah, Bryant Norris, Freddy Zeckser, Isaac Stramel, Will Oehler, Shea Buenzow, Blaise Pacha, Leah Ambrosy, Meredith Beer, Lainey Henley, Evie Kunz, Lizzie Renner, Alicia Mutasingwa, Abby Horstmann, Audrey Hutchins, Izzy Doyle, and Addie Raczynski. For the Musical Theater: Hamilton, Alicia Mutasingwa, Gracie Molony, Ellie Renze, Cris Cano, Noah Upah, Leah Ambrosy, and Sophia Rojas-Neira.

Upcoming Important Announcements:

Good Luck to Coach Chambers and the wrestling team competing in the 3A wrestling districts in Marshalltown on Saturday.  Matches begin at 10:00 AM.

Good Luck to Brian Foerster, Seth Williams, and Jack Schimberg who will be competing in the State Swim Meet on Saturday at the U of I Rec Center beginning at noon.
